Theres been a bit in the
news about driveins lately, more specifically the reopening of the
Cairns Drive In. Well guys, unfortunately I think you'll be stuck
with just me and the old Rodeo. It ain't gonna happen. With 13
driveins left operating in Australia, Cairns is lucky to have one on
it's doorstep, many cities of Cairns size don't.

A big thanks to you all who
braved the possible rain last weekend, Remember the "300 Sunny days
per year", it hardly ever rains in Mareeba compared to Cairns.
I've got to say you all
surprised me on New Years Day. I was not expecting over 100 cars to
show up at all. I expected about 25. Therefore I partied on New
Years Eve to that level, so sorry to anyone who i wasn't too
friendly too. I was hurting.
Avatar next weekend, and I
promise we'll be ready.

I'm not doing too good with
this blog thing am I?
Thanks to all our customers
in 2009, we've had a great year showing you movies and I hope you've
had a great year watching them with us. This year we filled the
place for the 1st time, with Ice Age 3, a record I hope to beat with
next years Shrek 4.
As for the best films we,ve
played this year............... Up would definately be thereabouts,
as well as "Boy in Striped Pyjamas". Although Technically last years
films, we played them this year so I have to mention Slumdog
Millionaire, as well as Benjamin Button.
My top 5 (that we
played in 2009)
1. Slumdog Millionaire
(equal 1st)
1. Up (equal 1st)
3. 500 days of Summer
4. Boy in Striped Pyjamas
5. District 9
Honourable Mentions
Gran Torino, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Boat
that Rocked and Public Enemies.
I couldn't separate Slumdog
and Up, so I gave them each equal 1st place.
Now as for you guys voting
with your attendance, the winner is
1. Ice Age 3/Night at the
Museum 2
So thanks again for all the
support through the year and we look forward to seeing you in 2010.

I
launched the new webpage today, and for some reason I put a blog
page on it so I better write something, so here it is.
This weekend we have "All
About Steve" and "(500) Days of Summer". I haven't seen "All About
Steve", but if it stars Sandra Bullock it should be good for a few
laughs and not too bad. "(500) Days of Summer", on the other hand I
have seen and it is a brilliant film. A bit on the arty/indy side
but not too out there for most people.
As for the idea of this blog
page it will have my thoughts about the movies I've played (from the
perspective of a projectionist, who has to watch all kinds of
films), as well as a bit of a behind the scenes look at the running
of a drivein.
I'm pretty busy with my
other web based businesses
www.visitcairns.com.au ,
www.cairnsultimateparty.com ,www.freesubmitwebdirectory.com and
www.cairnsqueenslandaustralia.com.au as well as being a father
and husband, but I should find a few minutes a week to update this.
